Irezumi Ink: laser tattoo removal aftercare

Your skin just did some heavy lifting-now it’s time to take care of it.

Following the right aftercare is essential for proper healing, avoiding complications, and getting the best results from your removal sessions.

What to do

  • Keep it clean and dry for the first 48 hours. Gently cleanse the ares with mild, fragrance-free soap if needed.
  • Apply a cold compress (not ice) to reduce swelling and discomfort.
  • Use a healing ointment like aloe Vera or a recommended aftercare balm if the skin feels tight or dry.
  • Cover loosely with a sterile, non-stick bandage, if necessary, especially if clothing might rub the area.
  • Let it breathe when possible- but protect it from dirt and bacteria.
  • Stay hydrated and give your immune system what it needs- rest, water, and a balanced diet helps your body flush out the ink.

What to avoid

  • No scratching, picking, or peeling- even if it scabs or blisters. This can lead to scarring and slow healing.
  • No makeup, lotions, or perfumed products on the area for at least 7 days.
  • Avoid sun exposure - fresh laser treated skin is sensitive. Always use SPF 50 once healed.
  • No hot tubs, swimming, or saunas for 7-10 days post treatment.
  • No heavy exercise or tight clothing that rubs the area for at least 48 hours.

Healing & expectations

  • Redness, swelling, itching, and slight blistering are all normal in the first few days.
  • The area may scab and flake- this is part of the healing process.
  • It can take 1-2 weeks for the skin to heal between the sessions.
  • Complete fading happens gradually- your body removes the ink over several weeks after each session.

When to contact us

If you experience:

  • Signs of infection (increased pain, heat, pus, or a foul smell).
  • Sever blistering or prolonged bleeding
  • Concerns about scarring or abnormal healing

Please don’t hesitate to reach out- we’re here to support you every step of the way.
